This type of survey is required under the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015 and is fully intrusive and can be targeted to specific areas which will or may be affected by refurbishment works.The scope of the survey must clearly identify areas that are included and just as importantly what areas are not included, this is vitally important for any contractors engaged to undertake the refurbishment works. There will most likely be a large number of openings/inspection points throughout the site which will require making good if the project is not planned to start immediately after completion of the survey.
This type of survey is also fully intrusive and is designed to identify without ambiguity all present asbestos materials within all elements of the buildings construction as far as reasonably practicable.

Recommended remedial action: A detailed description on how to manage Asbestos materials or in severe cases, if they need to be removed to safeguard the occupants.
All samples taken are tested by an independant UKAS accredited laboratory., samples are analysed and tested using polarised light microscopy to distinguish between the six asbestos fibre types.
All Laboratory staff are trained to the national recognised British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) proficiency module P401.
